eLeSI training : e-Learning for an Inclusive Society

Origin and purpose of the European project eLeSI

This project was born from the observation of a lack of training of many stakeholders working in Europe and beyond, with children and adults with learning disabilities (UK)/ intellectual disabilities (USA), autism spectrum conditions and/or mental health problems. The objective is to allow people who work or are in touch with persons with this kind of handicap to get training about the factors which may support, or conversely impede, their social inclusion.

The content of the training has been developed by academics, assisted by people with direct experience in providing support to these children and adults as well as to their families.

This free-access training has a transnational focus. It is based on the principles of the United Nations Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities by 2006. This innovative project both in its purpose and its development (involving academic, associative, professional partners and users) aims to improve the knowledge of European citizens about these specific issues as well as to change the perception of those who have individual differences or disabilities.

This project  received the support from the European Commission within the Erasmus programme + (formerly Grundtvig) of lifelong training.
